BioPolyMeer II

Biodegradable Plastic

BioPolyMeer II is a wall-based version of the project developed for Kunstverein Haus 8. The work emerged from an ongoing engagement with biomaterial processes, surface formation and the quiet tension between fragility and structure. Installed on the wall, the piece brings material research into close relation with architecture and with the viewer’s perception of scale, density and light.

The wall version of Biopolymeer II focuses on the behaviour of the material itself. Its surface carries traces of making, drying, shaping and settling. Slight shifts in texture, thickness and tension remain visible and give the work its presence. The piece holds a restrained visual language, while the material continues to suggest movement, change and physical sensitivity.

BioPolyMeer II at Kunstverein Haus 8

Developed for Kunstverein Haus 8, this version of BioPolyMeer II was conceived specifically for a wall-based situation. The work operates between image, object and relief. It stays close to the surface of the wall and at the same time creates a distinct spatial pull through contour, projection and shadow. Light plays an important role in how the piece unfolds. It activates fine differences within the material and sharpens the relation between body, edge and surrounding space.

Within Melanie Windl’s practice, BioPolyMeer II connects material research with a reduced and precise visual form. The work reflects an ongoing interest in biomaterials, transformation and the subtle agency of surfaces. It also shows how experimental processes can lead to a concentrated wall piece that feels both tactile and spatial. In this context, the project becomes a work about material presence, slowness and the careful emergence of form.
