BioPolyMeer is an interactive transmedia installation developed between 2018 and 2021 through research, production, and exhibition. It emerged from my study of marine organisms and seaweed. The project explores how organic material can enter sculptural form, suspension, and sound.
BioPolyMeer and marine material research
Seaweed became both source material and visual reference for BioPolyMeer. Its movement in water, its drifting growth, and its attachment to rope shaped the work. Seven biopolymer objects were developed and placed on ship line in space. Their arrangement follows studies of floating tang and turns these observations into a sculptural composition.
The forms move through tension, curvature, and distance. Their sepia and umber tones recall sediment, organic matter, and muted shifts of the sea. Each element has its own presence, and the installation unfolds through relation, suspension, and rhythm.
Sound in BioPolyMeer
Sound is an essential part of BioPolyMeer. A composition for three static and four dynamic channels extends the installation into an acoustic field. Digital processing and a 96-speaker setting connect object, movement, resonance, and space. The work belongs to my Material Works and relates to my Installations.
